February 2010 Book Releases

February 15, 2010 at 11:10 am 10 comments

Since this post is coming out so late in the month, most of the February book releases I’ve been looking forward to have already come out. However, there are still a couple more upcoming releases I’m really geeked about.

February 14, 2010: Petit Morts by Jordan Castillo Price and Josh Lanyon

Indulge your sweet tooth with five deliciously weird tales by Josh Lanyon and Jordan Castillo Price!

A storefront. You’ve never noticed it before. It’s small, unassuming, and yet there’s something about it that draws your eye. And the aroma drifting out, rich and dark, so enticing. How could you have overlooked it? It must be new.

So why does it look like it’s been there for ages? And the chocolatier behind the counter…certainly you’d remember him.

Petit Morts: poisonous little reads by Josh Lanyon and Jordan Castillo Price

Petit Morts

February 23, 2010: Black Magic Sanction (Hollows series, book 8 ) by Kim Harrison.

Rachel Morgan has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter—and lived to tell the tale. But she’s never faced off against her own kind . . . until now. Denounced and shunned for dealing with demons and black magic, her best hope is life imprisonment—at worst, a forced lobotomy and genetic slavery. Only her enemies are strong enough to help her win her freedom, but trust comes hard when it hinges on the unscrupulous tycoon Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief.

It takes a witch to catch a witch, but survival bears a heavy price.

I’m currently reading The Iron King and Archangel’s Kiss, and so far they are as good as I’d hoped. The Next Best Thing and Blood Magic are in my TBR, and I’m waiting for my library requests for Flirt and Black Magic Sanction to come in. Since I’ve already more than spent my reading budget this month, I’ll pick up Petit Morts first thing in March.

I’d be really interested if anyone has read Steamed or Joss Ware’s new series could let me know what they think about them!

Are there any February book releases I missed that you’re looking forward to?

I read the Petit Morts Saturday evening – they were quite tasty. Recommended!

Sigh, I’ve not been able to get into KC’s series. I tried, but no luck.

Ooh, lucky! Can’t wait for March 1!

Alas. I must confess, I’ve given up on KH’s series. She killed off a certain someone and I just haven’t been able to forgive and forget…

Chris: Yes! I was traumatized for DAYS after that one, walking around i shock. I get why she did it, but I wasn’t happy about it. I like where things are going with Rachel, finally.

I’m too bitter to read any more! LOL! Although… not bitter enough to get rid of my autographed copies or anything.

*fan girl scream* there is a Josh Lanyon book coming out?! I’m so excited I can barely sit still. Do you know where we can buy Petit Mortis?

Did I hear you say you couldn’t get into Kresley Cole???? God I love her sense of humor, loved Hunger Like No Other, Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night and Dark Desires After Dusk. Whenever she focuses on the vamps it’s just not as good as her werwolves (with Scottish accents) and demons.

So are you totally glomming Josh Lanyon, now? lol My favorite one of his that I read recently was his novella in the other collab with JCP, The Art of Dying. His story, Lovers and Other Strangers was really wonderful, and the main character, Finn, reminded me of Adrien in some ways.

Jordan Castillo Price self publishes, and has a great site. You can pick up Petit Morts at http://jcpbooks.com/. While you’re there, check out her other stuff. I HIGHLY recommend her PsyCop series and her standalone, Hemovore.

Yeah, I read the first 2 IAD and didn’t finish the 3rd. They were ok, but what really got me was that the 3rd was so focused on the Hie, which I always found the least interesting thing about the series. It just didn’t love it enough to stick with the series. Tho’ yes, you’re right, I liked the weres most of all. 😛

I didn’t get it yet, but I’m looking forward to reading Archangel’s Kiss by Singh.

I’m with Chris, I’m also looking forward to Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Cole… those books are such fun — but you’re not the only one who gave up on them after the infamous Hie, lol! They did get better after that one book, says I of course. 🙂

Renee – I haven’t been able to get into Kresley Cole’s books either. They just don’t appeal. Saying that, neither do Kim Harrison’s books *ducks*

Am looking forward to hearing what you think of The Iron King.

lol. I’ll forgive the lack of Kim Harrison love. 😛
Iron King is really good! I love all the fae characters–it’s really a diverse collection. And, and interesting take on some of the fae legends.
